How I work
Every first appointment is a full psychiatric assessment. I listen first, then we agree on what is going on and what will help. That may be therapy, medicine, or both.
I use TEAM-CBT, a structured form of therapy that measures how you feel at every session. Filling in the Brief Mood Survey (BMS) form before and after each session is a must, so we can both see whether things are really getting better. If they are not, we change the plan.
Why measure? A review of controlled trials found that giving therapists session-by-session progress feedback improves results, most of all for clients who are not improving as expected (Lambert, Whipple and Kleinstäuber, Psychotherapy, 2018, doi:10.1037/pst0000167).

Common questions
Do I need a referral?
No. You can book directly. Doctors, schools and counsellors are also welcome to refer.
Can I see you online from abroad?
Yes. Sessions are by Google Meet, in Nepali or English, at a time that suits your time zone. Many of my online clients live in the Gulf, Malaysia, Japan, Korea, Australia, the UK and North America.
Will I have to take medicine?
Not always. Many people improve with therapy and practical changes alone. When medicine can help, I explain why, and we decide together.
Is what I say kept private?
Yes. I do not share anything with your family, employer or school without your permission, except in the rare case where someone’s life is in danger.
Can my family join?
Yes, if you want them to. Family can join part or all of a session, in the clinic or online. Adolescents aged 13 to 17 come with a parent or guardian for the first visit.
